NCCU Flavours and Sodexo partners cater chancellor installation

A 1,000-guest reception was prepared by NCCU's Flavours Catering with support from neighboring Sodexo campus dining teams.

Following the installation of Johnson O. Akinleye, Ph.D. as the twelfth chancellor of North Carolina Central University (NCCU), a 1,000-guest reception was held – prepared by NCCU’s Flavours Catering by Sodexo with support from neighboring Sodexo campus dining teams.

Executive Chef Derrick McCorkle of NCCU Dining was joined by chefs, managers, and culinary staff from Mount Olive University, Kanuga Conference Center, Greensboro College, Bennett College, William Peace University, and North Carolina Westleyan.

Dishes, which included four carving stations with roasted Moroccan turkey, roasted beef tenderloin with horseradish aioli, and Southwestern fajita chicken salad, were prepped by the team and brought to be served in a massive event tent.

The evening also featured the Eagle Promise Scholarship Gala for which Eagle Dining was a platinum, top level sponsor, donating $25,000.

The NCCU dining team was joined by other members of Sodexo management, NCCU’s Business and Auxiliary Services, and family.

During the week’s installation festivities, Flavors Catering also served royal guests including Royal Majesty Drolor Bosso Adamtey I, SUAPOLOR of the Se (Shai) Traditional Area, Ghana, West Africa, Chancellor, University of Professional Studies Accra, Ghana, Chancellor, Caribbean Maritime University, Kingston Jamaica.

“It was so rewarding to see the Sodexo family come together for the chancellor’s installation,” said Chef McCorkle. “Presentation meant everything to us and we were so pleased with the results of this impressive team effort.”
