Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:
- The North Carolina Museum of History has added a new permanent installation honoring North Carolina veterans. The exhibit was curated by Charles Knight, and is centered around the stories of military members. (FOX8)
- If you stepped outside on Wednesday night looking to catch a glimpse of the SpaceX Falcon 9, you might have also seen a fireball meteor entering Earth's atmosphere. The meteor was moving northwest across NC at 33,000 mph and lasted only 3.5 seconds before disintegrating. According to NASA, at its brightest, "the fireball rivaled the full moon." (CBS17)
- Today is a "mental health day" for Wake County public schools. Some parents who have worked with the school system getting resources for their children's mental health are now pushing for more funding for those resources. (WRAL)
- North Carolina Superior Court Judge David Lee has ordered the state to pay out $1.75 billion to help reduce public education inequities. The 2004 Leandro court ruling declared the state had fallen short and Judge Lee issued the penalty on Wednesday, stating that the state has failed to act. (Spectrum News 1)
- The US Bureau for Labor Statistics has released new data showing that national inflation in October has reached the highest monthly increase in nearly 30 years. James Watts, merchandising manager at Weaver Street Market says that relying on local products can help offset the cost of price increases. (CBS17)
