Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:

  1. The Raleigh Police Department is looking at how officers approach stressful and potentially life-threatening situations. With the national discussions regarding the overuse of force, the department will be dedicating the next two years to developing a new de-escalation policy and training. The longer-term training program will use more than $118,000 in federal grant funding. (CBS17)
  2. Several Wake County municipalities held elections on Tuesday. You can see the outcomes of all the city races here on INDY Week.
  3. Intelerad Medical Systems Inc. plans to utilize Raleigh as its US headquarters. The company projects that the process will double its their current staff, and it is choosing the Triangle as the new home due to the strong tech talent in the area. (WRAL)
  4. A woman was injured in south Raleigh on Tuesday night after being hit by a vehicle. The incident occurred near the intersection of Lake Wheeler and Tryon roads. The woman was not in the crosswalk when she was struck, but remained conscious and was taken to WakeMed by ambulance. (CBS17)
  5. The State House and Senate lawmakers voted along party lines on Tuesday to approve the new legislative and congressional district map that has been given an F grade that is predicted to give Republicans an 11-3 majority. With the approval, the Democrat minority has expressed intent to sue. (WRAL)
