- The City of Raleigh has selected 13 non-profit organizations to receive a total of $10 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding. The money can be used on a wide range of issues to improve community health. These 13 organizations are in addition to five economic recovery programs that Raleigh has already invested in, as well as the purchase of a Brentwood Road hotel for supportive housing, and improvements to the Raleigh Convention Center and City Plaza. (CBS17)
- A new affordable housing complex in Raleigh has broken ground. The six-acre plot is set to become the King Ridge Apartments by fall 2023. The site located off of Sunnybrook Road will include 100 units and services to assist individuals and families facing homelessness. The $20 million project is being funded with public and private funds. (abc11)
- A Raleigh police officer was injured in a vehicle collision on Tuesday night. The wreck happened at 9:10 pm at the intersection of Capital and Westinghouse Boulevards. An officer was on duty driving a police SUV south on Capital, and turning left when a driver in a pickup truck travelling north hit the SUV. Injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and the truck driver was not injured. (CBS17, WRAL)
- Part of I-40 will be closing down over the next two weeks for an improvement project. Multiple lanes will be closed between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am with traffic diverted off I-40 at airport Boulevard and back to I-40 on the other side of the interchange. Crews are working on a bridge over I-40 and adding a second bridge to improve traffic flow in both directions. (WRAL)
- Business owners are preparing for a big weekend with the NCAA Final Four matchup between Duke and UNC, as well as Dreamville Music Festival. Business owners at Brightleaf Square are excited for the much-needed economic boost, after a deadly gas explosion devastated business three years ago next month.
