Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:

  1. North Carolina is now incentivizing vaccinations for prisoners and prison workers using CARES Act funds. Any prisoner who receives the vaccine will have $25 added to their canteen, and prison staff will receive a $500 bonus for doing so. (CBS17)
  2. Students at NC State University were shot at as a man attempted to steal their vehicle. Around 3:22 am, the suspect approached the students in their vehicle and tried to take it from them and shot at them as they drove away. (CBS17)
  3. Police are investigating the death of a 58-year old man downtown on Saturday. Michael Levon Bostic was transported to the hospital where he passed away. Officials have not released details on his cause of death. (WRAL)
  4. A week after many enjoyed Thanksgiving celebrations, the COVID-19 metrics are seeing an increase. The increase is expected as it has been the trend after every major holiday, and the increase is significantly less than the increase this time last year. (abc11)
  5. A three-judge panel met on Friday to discuss the legislative and congressional maps to be used in the 2022 elections. The panel denied preliminary injunctions on a pair of lawsuits challenging the maps, and will allow 2022 elections to remain on schedule with candidate filing to begin today. (Spectrum News 1)
