Here are the top five stories in Raleigh today:
- Members of the Raleigh Police and Fire Departments were out on Tuesday protesting for a larger pay increase. The group was outside of the municipal building ahead of the afternoon's city council meeting where they will make a decision on the 2% pay raises for city employees. Protestors say that 2% falls short compared to other cities and counties, and doesn't match the cost of living in the area. (CBS17, WRAL, abc11)
- The Raleigh Police Department is seeking public help to identify and locate the suspect in a series of peeping Tom incidents. Multiple incidents have been reported on Brockton Drive from Feb. 11 to April 2. Several residents at the apartment complex have reported incidents, and some have even moved due to their experience. (CBS17, WRAL)
- WakeMed is reaching out asking area city councils and commissions for pandemic rescue funds to help build a new hospital for those in need of mental health care. WakeMed has seen an increase of 25% for patients coming into the emergency room with behavioral health conditions, with doctors seeing about 40,000 more people per year in need of mental health care. The funds would go to a new 50-bed behavioral health hospital to be a first stop for people in crisis. (WRAL)
- The Wake County Board of Education voted Monday regarding a potential November ballot inclusion. If the Board of Education and the county commissioners approve, a $530.7 million school building bond would be included on the ballot. The bond could increase taxes for residents, but the bond would help the school system accommodate for county growth and maintain buildings. (WRAL)
- A Florida federal judge voided a national mask mandate for planes and trains on Monday. Following the decision, RDU airport tweeted that TSA would no longer require visitors, travelers, or employees to wear a mask at the airport. Airlines still maintain the ability to require or not require the use of masks, but many airlines have been pushing for the mandate drop for months. (CBS17)

- So normally I wouldn't be so inclined to highlight 4/20, but as discussion regarding legalization in North Carolina continues, one study has found that a majority of voters are in support of legalization. Now is the time to make your stance known by writing to your congressperson.
- Tickets for the IBMA World of Bluegrass Music Festival, beginning on September 30, are on sale now. (Etix)
