Here are the top three stories today in Raleigh:
- The new Raleigh City Council was sworn into office last night. The council, including Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin gathered at Raleigh Union Station to take their oaths of office. The swearing in ceremony was open to the public and livestreamed on the city's YouTube channel. The city council's first meeting is set to be held today at 1:00 p.m. The council is expected to discuss the rezoning at North Hills. (WRAL)
- North Carolina State University students are preparing for their finals, but many are concerned as they grapple with how the semester has gone. Students who were affected by the four deaths on campus reflect on the student led efforts to put mental health at the forefront of the university's priorities. (WRAL) Many students are also raising concerns about safety after the reported sexual assault over the weekend. (abc11) University police are increasing campus patrols after the report, but students are still shaken and believe that they could do more. (CBS17)
- Tomorrow, the North Carolina Museum of History is hosting a one-day public exhibition of a rare first printing of the U.S. constitution. The copy is one of only 14 known copies of the official printing of the Constitution produced for the delegates to the Constitutional Convention and for the Central Congress. The copy that will be displayed is one of only two original copies that are privately owned. The exhibition will also display North Carolina's original copy of the Bill of Rights that resides in the permanent collection of the State Archives of North Carolina. (Public Radio East)
