🌱 Raleigh Hotel Deemed Unsafe + Road Rage Shooting + FedEx Truck Fire

Here are the top five stories in Raleigh today:

  1. The Quality Inn hotel in Raleigh had to force guests out due to the city deeming the building unsafe. The building closure came as inspections revealed that the location did not have working smoke alarms, emergency lights, or carbon monoxide detectors. The hotel has 30 days to fix the issues in order to reopen. (CBS17, WRAL)
  2. One person is in custody and an another in the hospital after a road rage shooting Wednesday on Duraleigh. Investigators believe the dispute began at a red light, in which both drivers fired at one another. The driver of the involved dump truck was shot in the left thigh during the altercation. Both drivers are being detained while the RPD investigates. (abc11, CBS17, WRAL)
  3. Raleigh police have charged one man in connection to the deadly shooting at a Raleigh gas station. Davon Kareen Allen has been charged with murder for the death of Devonte Latreal Martin, as well as possession of a firearm by a felon. Allen has been taken to the Wake County Detention Center.   4. A FedEx cargo truck caught fire on Tuesday and backed up much of the evening rush hour traffic on I-540 westbound. According to Fire Chief Robert Hodge, the fire was reported at 6:10 p.m Westbound lanes were closed at mile marker 14, and the highway reopened around 8:40 p.m.. The truck driver reported seeing the flames and pulled over before the truck completely caught fire. (abc11, CBS17)
  5. Raleigh residents are raising concerns regarding the area near Jones Sausage and Rock Quarry Roads after multiple crashes occurred on Monday night. The area ha received numerous requests for more lighting, signage, or even reflectors to increase visibility. Sharon Privette says that she sees at least two or three accidents a month in the area. (WRAL)
