Raleigh Passes $971 Million Budget, Property Tax Hike: Report

The city has raised property tax rates each year since 2013.

RALEIGH, NC — The city of Raleigh has reportedly passed a $971 million budget that includes tax and fee hikes. City officials approved the budget — and property tax increases — Monday afternoon, the News and Observer reported.

Included in the budget: a 1.6 percent increase to monthly water and sewer bill, which will result in a 91-cent monthly hike for the typical customer, the newspaper reported.

The city property tax rate was increased by 1.29 cents, meaning the typical homeowner will pay $25.36 more on their property tax bill, the newspaper reported. The new city property tax rate, effective July 1, will be 43.82 cents per $100 valuation.
