Service-Oriented Site

The new website is service oriented; it’s about finding what you want when you want it. The site is designed in a way that you can find what you’re looking for, whatever your approach is, from looking through the departments to browsing service categories to using the search tool.
The most popular services, mainly based on site traffic, will be featured for easy access on the homepage. The homepage also features news, events and City Council information (contact and meeting information along with the option to submit a petition). Another "one stop shop" offering on the homepage is "My City Services."
There, you can simply enter your address and get such information as your Citizen Advisory Council district, City Council representative, voting location, police precinct, and more.
The website will also feature a “Projects” section, where residents and business partners can get up-to-date information on various initiatives across departments. This feature will include project background, contact information, budget, contractor (if applicable), phases and more.
New Simple, Dynamic Platform
The site will be managed on a new, much simpler, faster and dynamic content management system, Drupal 8, and is built from a strategic vision that resulted from the project’s discovery phase. The City will continue to build on this platform with additional tools and features. The visual design will fit with the new City brand implementation.
Once the new site is live, you’re encouraged to explore and get comfortable with it. That said, you’ll have the option to click back to the old website for four weeks to ease the transition. There will be a link on the homepage of RaleighNC.gov, linking to an archive. If you have feedback once the new site launches, please use the “widget” located at the bottom of each of the new site’s pages. That will allow our team to organize user comments; they will not be able to respond one by one. Your feedback will be seen and is appreciated.
The City followed other municipalities leading the way in shaping this website and we’re excited to be able to deliver information in such a quick and dynamic way going forward.
