Happy World Kindness Day Raleigh!

Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:

  1. Raleigh-Durham International Airport was unable to serve some passengers due to a water leak that caused a major power outage on Friday morning. The water leaked onto an electrical box causing an outage that impacted ticketing, security, and gate bridges, as well as other systems. (WXII12)
  2. The Raleigh police are stepping up their enforcement in the Glenwood South area. This summer saw increased noise, guns, and parking violations in the area, and the Raleigh police department has increased its presence there over the past few months. Businesses and residents have felt the impact of the step-up. (CBS17)
  3. The New Bern Mini Mart had unexpected chaos as an individual in a dark BMW pulled up and fired upon the store from the car. The incident was caught on surveillance and no one was injured. This is the second shooting in the period of only a few months at the same location. (WRAL)
  4. Raleigh police are investigating two car-jackings that happened within 10 miles and 10 minutes of one another. Officials do not believe the incidents are related, and have one suspect in custody relating to the first incident. (WRAL)
  5. Wake County continues to see increased demand for housing, but according to ABC11's I-Team, around 14% of single-family home sales in the area have been purchased by buyers who have purchased more than one property. Sales to property investors have increased since Apple and Google announced investments in the triangle, and that demand has sent single-family home prices up 21% between 2019 and 2021. (abc11)
