🌱 Record-Breaking Travel at RDU + Local Plumbers See Rise In Business
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Raleigh.

Happy Cyber Monday Raleigh!
As we get farther out from Thanksgiving and turkey leftovers diminish, now I have to try to focus on returning to the real world of working and getting my kiddo to school in the morning. As much as I love December and all the feelings of Christmas in the air, it can get pretty overwhelming. Don't let yourself get into a winter slump and make sure you make time for yourself to socialize and do things you enjoy. For now, at least stay caught up with everything to know in Raleigh, including:
- Small Business Saturday successes
- All the Jingle Ladies returns
- A fun dialect test for you to challenge your NC knowledge
But first, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and beautiful. High: 64 Low: 37.
⚡️ Attention, local business owners and marketers in Raleigh! I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to secure your spot now. Click here to learn more.
Here are the top four stories today in Raleigh:
- Raleigh-Durham International Airport reported a record-shattering travel day, as passengers returned from Thanksgiving trips. Airport officials expected nearly 60,000 people travelling through RDU on Sunday. More than 2,300 flights were delayed across the US, with dozens of cancellations as well. The previous single-day record for travel was set in 2019, and it is expected that Sunday beat that number by 9%. (abc11, WRAL)
- Small Business Saturday gave shoppers the opportunity to explore small businesses in the area, and Shop Local Raleigh was there to guide the way. The organization spread the word about participating jewelry, toy, travel, sporting goods, bookstores and more, along with incentives for the day. As small businesses wrestle with the cost of inflation and do their best to not price out consumers, they are grateful for the business. (abc11)
- Around 11:38 p.m. Raleigh police responded to a shooting at the Extended Stay America off of North Raleigh Boulevard. One man was injured and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made and police have not identified any suspects. (CBS17, WRAL)
- Raleigh plumbers are sharing their experience, as Thanksgiving time gives them a large increase in business. According to Michael & Son Plumbing's Jason Litvak, the business ran around 50-60 calls on Friday. While it typically has 4-5 plumbers out on the weekends, it had to utilize 11-12 employees over the weekend. It is reminding residents that you need to be careful what goes down your drains as your plumbing system recovers from the taxing work of Thanksgiving day. (CBS17)
