In an
effort to continuously educate and improve how and what is communicated to
local residents, Wake County’s Solid Waste Management Division and landfill
operator GFL Environmental have launched this survey.

“We take
our presence in the community very seriously,” said John Roberson, Solid Waste
Management Director. “To be better partners and encourage an open dialogue,
we’re interested in learning more about how people want to be communicated with
– and if there are specific questions people have about how the landfill is
operated. This survey is the first step and will help us prioritize the
channels we use for our efforts.”

The
survey, which opened on Monday, Jan. 4, will collect responses until Monday,
Feb. 15.

Opened
in 2008, the South Wake Landfill is a municipal solid waste management facility
owned by Wake County and operated by GFL
Environmental
. The landfill provides solid
waste disposal for all Wake County residents and businesses through a long-term
Interlocal Agreement (ILA) with municipalities.
