  1. A Sheriff's Deputy was shot with an assault rifle while trying to serve an eviction notice near Old Wake Forest Rd. Sgt. Ronald Waller is in stable condition but underwent surgery as a result of the incident. (abc11, Fox Carolina)
  2. NC Senate Republicans have rejected Gov. Cooper's pick to head the state Department of Environmental Quality. Republican senators claim that the nominee, Dionne Delli-Gatti failed to show enough understanding on the administration's natural gas strategy or the Mountain Valley Pipeline. Democrats were blindsided by the committee hearing. (WRAL)
  3. Locast has expanded into Raleigh-Durham today. If you're not familiar with it, the streaming service provides local TV channels for free via internet connected devices. (Cord Cutters News)
  4. The second wave of HOPE payments will be sent out as part of the COVID-19 recovery and relief effort. These payments will go to landlords and utility companies to keep people in homes and keep power on. $1.1 million has already gone out in the first 2 weeks of the program. (WFMY)
  5. After 6 months of juggling 911 calls, Raleigh will no longer be forced to take calls from Durham residents. Durham has hired enough people to handle their dispatch, but still has a hiring need. (CBS17)
