Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:

  1. Walmart and the Raleigh Police Department partnered together on Saturday to take kids on a shopping spree. The "Shop with a Cop" event allowed children to take a $100 gift card and shop while a cop accompanied them and helped with their buying decisions. (CBS17)
  2. A former Cary charter school principal has filed a lawsuit against Charter School USA. Brian Bauer alleges that his termination was due to his "hiring of racially diverse staff and/or his insistence on enforcement of the school's Reopening Plan." An attorney for Charter School USA says they are unable to comment on active litigation. (WXII)
  3. A lab in Raleigh is working to process thousands of COVID-19 tests from 40 states each day. Mako Medical is processing about 100,000 samples per week in an effort to track the virus variants. (abc11)
  4. WakeMed is expanding access to monoclonal antibody COVID-19 treatments. WakeMed is the second provider in the state to join the national Crush COVID initiative to increase access to this therapy for high-risk patients. (abc11)
  5. Police have charged a man with the August murder of Edward Outlaw. Terrence Lawson was charged by Raleigh police and is being held at the Guilford County Detention Center. (CBS17) Police have also identified the driver in a hit-and-run that killed 17-year-old Ashlee Marie Llagostera on Friday. Warrants are being issued for Wendel Romual Rameriz-Silva for a variety of charges related to the incident. (CBS17)
