But first, today's weather:

An a.m. shower; partly sunny. High: 75 Low: 55.

Here are the top five stories today in Raleigh:

  1. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's office has released video of the Shaw University bus traffic stop. Sheriff Chuck Wright says that his officers were not racially profiling when they stopped the bus. According to Wright, his deputies were concerned about a possibly sleepy bus driver who was failing to maintain his lane. According to Wright, he also offered to share body camera footage with Shaw University President Paulette Dillard, but she called for investigation into the police tactics instead. Wright also said that officers utilized the drug sniffing dogs as it is common to see drugs trafficked along Interstate 85 on Greyhound buses. (FoxCarolina, WRAL, WUNC)
  2. The Annual RDC Marathon kicked off in Durham on Saturday and Sunday to raise money for ALS. The event included a half-marathon, a 10K, and a 5K race over the two days. Funds from the races went to Team Drea Foundation to support research to find a cure or effective treatment for ALS. They also raise awareness of the disease and help those living with ALS. (abc11)
  3. As early voting continues, groups are organizing to encourage voters to turnout and cast their ballot. At Talley Student Union on Sunday, North Carolina's Asian Americans Together held an event to promote political participation, especially among young Asian American voters. (abc11, WRAL) Members of El Centro Hispano were also set up in a Raleigh parking lot, with tamales, drinks and educational resources to those that stopped by. The goal was to encourage Hispanic and Latino voters to get out and vote. (CBS17)
  4. At least 35 Raleigh firefighters responded to a North Raleigh house fire on Sunday night. The fire was reported around 10:35 p.m. at Carterville Court and Center Cross Court. Around 50% of the homes interior was damaged by flames, displacing the family of two who live in the home. The fire began while no one was home, and the cause is still under investigation. (CBS17)
  5. Part of Interstate 540 and U.S. 70 in Raleigh was closed on Monday morning after a man was found dead in the roadway. The road near Lumley Road was closed for around six hours while authorities investigated. It is still unclear how the man died. (WRAL)
