🌱 Stadium Set Back + Jobs to Fuquay + Police Re-Accreditation

Here are the top stories today in Raleigh:

  1. A sports entertainment stadium has been in the works in the Downtown South area, but due to the pandemic, it is being set back. Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin said that much of the intended funding has been depleted during the pandemic, and other grants wouldn't provide enough money. (WRAL) With the return of the Christmas Parade, and the creation of the ice-rink Baldwin expressed that the city is "coming back." (WRAL)
  2. CCL Label Inc. plans to construct a manufacturing facility in Fuquay-Varina. The construction will bring an anticipated 150 jobs initially, paying an average of $70,000 annually. The company also hopes to expand their facility within the next 3 to 5 years. (abc11)
  3. Raleigh families in a north Raleigh neighborhood walked to school on Friday morning in protest of the school reassignment plan they face. The plan would affect about 3,000 students in the area, and parents can attend a public meeting at the end of the month to voice their concerns. (WRAL)
  4. The Raleigh Police Department is scheduled for a virtual online assessment to achieve re-accreditation for meeting state-of-the-art standards for professionalism in law enforcement. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) requires standards in eight areas be met. (Patch)
  5. Police have filed charges on Friday against the driver responsible for killing officer Ryan Hayworth in October. Dedric Romero Privette is charged with five felonies including felony death by vehicle and driving while impaired. (abc11)
