Students at Chesterbrook Academy® Release 3,000 Ladybugs for Earth Day

Students celebrated Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing ladybugs and holding a ribbon cutting for their school garden

On April 22, students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Raleigh explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 3,000 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students also held a ribbon cutting for the reopening of their school’s garden, which features a variety of fruit, vegetables and herbs, as well as a butterfly garden.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Chesterbrook Academy teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
