TWDNK eBook Excerpt

An enthralling story of one woman's struggle to rise from the ashes to triumph in the face of adversity.

Today is September 17, 2007 and I’m free at last! Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, I’m free at last! I’m so filled with a quiet peace and a heartfelt joy to finally be divorced from my second husband.
Otis and I haven’t lived under the same roof since June 3, 2005 yet it has taken more than two years for me to be free of him.
Emotionally, I’ve been free of him for years since I haven’t been in love with him for quite some time.
Physically, we have been separated by his military orders then by my choice. I truly needed the time away to regroup from the hurts, humiliations and heartbreak being with him has caused me.
Financially, he wanted money from me he was never entitled to receive while refusing to send the money he promised “on his word of honor” to send.
In May, I finally told him that I forgive him for all he has done. It was as liberating as knowing that I wouldn’t be his wife anymore.
Forgiveness wasn’t easy but was so very necessary for me to heal.
Now I feel like shouting. I want to tell everyone I meet just how free I am. Completely free to be me!
