Here are the top three stories in Raleigh today:

  1. The family of Craig Curtis held a balloon release in remembrance of the teen who was killed on Thursday night. Craig Curtis was identified as the victim in the Nottingham Woods shooting. The suspect taken into custody is facing involuntary manslaughter charges. During the vigil his sisters said that it was not an intentional killing. More than 50 people gathered, a majority of them youth. Craig's family urged them to not get involved with guns. (abc11)
  2. The Wake County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who fled the scene of a domestic assault early on Saturday morning. Deputies responded to the scene in Knightdale on reports of a domestic assault. Deputies pursued the suspect, Hodea Loren Lewis, as he fled the scene. The chase ended when Lewis crashed his vehicle on U.S. 70. Lewis remains on the run and has outstanding warrants related to the chase and the original incident. (CBS17)
  3. On Saturday morning, many local teens spent their morning helping raise money for Make-A-Wish. The students from five high schools set off on a 5k run/walk that began at a local Raleigh soccer park. The event began as part of a school project by now-graduated Connor Kitson. Although he graduated, he is still passionate about helping the foundation and this year the event raised more than $16,000 that will go toward granting wishes in the Triangle. (CBS17)

  • NC State has gotten a commitment from Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong, and he will fill the vacancy created when Devin Leary transferred. (abc11)
