Due to a watermain break, a System Pressure Advisory has been issued to water customers near the intersection of Brier Creek Parkway and Highway 70 (see map for affected areas).

System Pressure Advisories are a precautionary measure taken when there is a drop in water pressure or due to an interruption of water service. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

Therefore, it is recommended that affected customers boil all water used for human consumption. It is expected that results confirming the water is safe to consumer will be available afternoon of Sept. 21 and customers will be updated when the advisory is lifted.

As a precautionary measure, bring the water to a full boil for a period of one minute before drinking or consuming. This includes cooking, ice making, and brushing teeth.

It will not be necessary to boil water for showering or other external purposes. If possible, infants and pregnant women should not drink boiled water, whereas bottled water is recommended.
