• Sullivan Park groundbreaking celebrates Madame Phoebia Cheek Sullivan - The Tryon Daily Bulletin (tryondailybulletin.com) — A new memorial park honoring Madame Phoebia Cheek Sullivan is moving forward in Saluda after a well-attended groundbreaking at the historic Sullivan Temple on Chestnut Street. Local leaders, including the mayor and Saluda Community Land Trust, joined Sullivan descendants to celebrate plans for trails, educational features, and preserved Black history, while organizers continue fundraising and volunteer efforts.
