• Southport unveils memorial one year after mass shooting that killed 3 (wwaytv3.com) — Southport residents gathered at Taylor Field Park to dedicate a new memorial and four trees honoring those killed and injured in last year’s mass shooting at American Fish Company. The local group Southport Cares has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for victims, survivors, and affected workers, while the criminal case remains paused as the suspect is deemed incompetent to stand trial. 
• Brunswick Sheriff's Charitable Foundation accepting nonprofit applications (wwaytv3.com) — A Southport-based charitable foundation tied to the Brunswick County Sheriff is now taking applications from local nonprofits for funding from its 2027 Sheriff’s Charity Ball. Eligible groups must be based in Brunswick County, serve county residents, and apply online by November 10, 2026, with award amounts depending on how much the March fundraiser brings in.

- Well, at least this time I know who my unexpected visitor was.
