• Iredell-Statesville Schools receive funding for new AEDs (qcnews.com) — Students and staff in Iredell-Statesville Schools, including several Statesville-area campuses, will soon be protected by 16 new automated external defibrillators funded by a $24,000 gift from the Iredell Health Foundation. The devices will replace units dating back to 1992 and come with staff training, strengthening emergency readiness for roughly 10,000 students and 1,000 employees. 
• Proposed budget for City of Statesville includes 12 percent increase in water and sewer rates (iredellfreenews.com) — Statesville’s proposed 2026-27 city budget keeps the property tax rate flat but calls for a continuing 12% annual increase in water and sewer rates to fund major infrastructure upgrades. The plan also adds firefighters for a new Gaither Road station, boosts street paving funds, advances a South Statesville electric substation, and moves several annexation and rezoning requests toward approval. A public hearing is set for June 1.
