šŸ“° News we're reading

• First freight train will roll through WNC's newly-restored Old Fort Loops this weekend (wunc.org) — Freight trains are about to start rolling again on the Old Fort Loops, the steep rail line running between Old Fort and Swannanoa that was heavily damaged by Hurricane Helene. This restoration is key for Swannanoa-linked freight traffic today and could eventually help bring back passenger rail service to Western North Carolina, reconnecting mountain communities to the broader rail network.
