• Topsail Nature Preserve temporary closure: What visitors need to know for Oct. 7 (wect.com) — Topsail Nature Preserve in Topsail Beach will be closed on the morning of Monday, Oct. 7, while crews spray herbicide to control an invasive reed. Parking and beach access will be off-limits for a few hours, with reopening expected that afternoon once the area is deemed safe. State officials will confirm the all-clear on the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Facebook page.
