Officers stress that both motorists and people walking must stay off phones, use crosswalks, and keep watching for traffic even when they have the right of way.
   

2. Neighbors raise safety concerns over proposed Living Hope location (wwaytv3.com) — Wilmington residents are pushing back against a proposed move of the Living Hope Day Center to the former Sorrow Drowner Tiki Bar on Dock Street, citing safety issues and nearby schools. 'Commuter Challenge' encourages alternative transportation this October (portcitydaily.com) — Wilmington-area commuters can join the 2026 Commuter Challenge from Oct. 5–18, logging trips where they carpool, bike, walk, telework, or ride transit instead of driving alone. Participants and teams can win prizes from local favorites like Thalian Hall, Cameron Art Museum, Wilmington Railroad Museum, Wilmington Water Tours, and Airlie Gardens by tracking their alternative trips.
