• North Carolina State Ports Authority seeks pause in $1.35b Wilmington channel deepening (dredgewire.com) — A $1.35 billion plan to deepen Wilmington Harbor's main channel is on hold after the State Ports Authority asked the Army Corps to pause while environmental concerns, including PFAS in dredged sediment, are studied further. The delay could affect the Port of Wilmington's ability to handle larger ships, with state regulators also questioning flooding and dredge material impacts along the Cape Fear coast.

• West Brunswick comes back in must-win conference game, defeating New Hanover 26-21 (wwaytv3.com) — New Hanover High's Wildcats, playing in Wilmington, saw a 21-6 lead slip away as West Brunswick stormed back for a 26-21 conference win, snapping the Trojans' losing streak. Local fans watched standout plays from Messiah Brockington and quarterback Ronan Brady before West Brunswick's second-half surge decided the matchup.
