• Proposed new emergency room raises concerns for neighbors (wxii12.com) — A proposed Novant Health freestanding emergency room on Robinhood Road in Winston-Salem has nearby neighbors worried about added traffic, sirens, and noise in an already busy corridor. Supporters say the $15.9 million facility would expand 24/7 emergency access, while residents question its need so close to existing hospitals. State regulators will take public comments at a Kernersville hearing before deciding. 
• 19-year-old drowns at Pebble Beach in Davidson County (myfox8.com) — A 19-year-old Winston-Salem resident, Eliezer Sanchez, drowned Sunday evening while swimming at Pebble Beach in Davidson County, according to local authorities. Rescue crews handled 25 calls that day, and officials stress water safety and the availability of life jackets as the community mourns the teen's death.
• Former Senator Kyrsten Sinema Being Sued Over Affair She Says Began at a Wine Country Airbnb (sfist.com) — A federal judge in Winston-Salem will hold an evidentiary hearing on whether North Carolina courts can hear a lawsuit against former U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema under the state's "alienation of affection" law. The case centers on an alleged affair with a security guard, and the Winston-Salem hearing will determine if North Carolina has jurisdiction to proceed.
