Local Alzheimer's Association chapter hosting Walk to End Alzheimer's (clemmonscourier.com) — Winston-Salem residents are invited to join the Walk to End Alzheimer's at Bailey Park on Saturday, Nov. 7, with check-in at 9 a.m. and the opening ceremony at 10 a.m. The event features a Promise Garden ceremony, raises funds for care and research, and is one of 17 Alzheimer's Association walks held across North Carolina.

2. Winston-Salem replaces yard-waste cart stickers after adhesion issue found (winstonsalemtimes.com) — Winston-Salem residents who bought 2026–27 red yard-waste stickers will automatically receive free replacements after the city found some weren't sticking properly, and collection will continue for all carts through October 31. Starting November 2, carts must display a securely attached red sticker, and residents are urged to follow the city's placement and cleaning instructions or call CityLink 311 with questions.

3. WSSU plans Atkins House repairs with $749,700 grant (wschronicle.com) — Winston-Salem State University has secured a $749,700 federal grant to repair the historic S.G. Atkins House, preserving a key landmark of Black homeownership and education in Winston-Salem. Planned work will replace the roof, rehabilitate windows, and upgrade systems, but construction timing still depends on trustee, UNC Board of Governors, and preservation approvals.
