He's coordinating patrol support, annual ALICE lockdown training, and an October DEA drug-awareness visit, while urging families to report anything unusual so police can respond quickly and keep Wahpeton schools safe. 
2. Wahpeton tobacco retailers post 90.9% compliance rate in underage sales checks (wahpetondailynews.com) — Wahpeton tobacco retailers largely passed recent underage sales checks, with 10 of 11 stores refusing to sell nicotine products to youth, according to local health and police officials. The Richland County Health Department urges all city retailers to keep tightening ID checks and staff training, stressing that preventing nicotine use before age 21 sharply cuts long‑term addiction risks for Wahpeton teens.
3. North Dakota landowners seek new hearing over 500,000-gallon dairy water deal (thecooldown.com) — Landowners near Wahpeton are asking state water officials to reopen a dismissed challenge to a deal supplying up to 500,000 gallons a day from the Wahpeton Buried Valley Aquifer to a large planned dairy. Lois Myllykangas, 88 (tricountynews.com) — Longtime Wahpeton High School alumna Lois Lorraine (Bohn) Myllykangas, 88, is being remembered after her passing on August 21, with services this Friday in Kimball, Minnesota. Lois grew up in Breckenridge and Wahpeton, attended North Dakota State College of Science, married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, and went on to build a close-knit family life in rural Kimball.
