• How claim sharks cost Ohio veterans thousands in VA benefits (signalakron.org) — Akron-area veterans are being targeted by costly, often illegal "claim shark" services, even though they can get free help filing VA disability claims through the Summit County Veterans Service Commission. Two Ohio House bills, including one co-sponsored by an Akron-area representative, aim to regulate or penalize unaccredited agencies but still leave key questions about fees and enforcement. Local veterans are urged to verify accreditation and use county or state resources to avoid debt and exploitation.
