Akron Pride Festival and Equity March celebrates 10 years this weekend with headliner Todrick Hall: See this year's theme (wkyc.com) — Downtown Akron will host the 10th annual Akron Pride Festival this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. along Main Street, featuring an Equity March and headliner Todrick Hall. Organizers are emphasizing the theme of "Home," with Akron-born artist Jeffrey Fulvimari's artwork and a new pet-friendly Drinks & Disco Dogs area at Lock 4.
   

2. Students get new bikes and renovated resource market at I Promise School in Akron (cleveland19.com) — Students at Akron's I Promise School are starting the year with more support, including more than 100 new bikes earned by fourth and fifth graders and a fully renovated Happy Happy Market for families. The market offers free food, clothing, shoes, and diapers, aiming to ease resource stress as 500 students return on August 27.

Akron man fears for safety after big tree branch crashes onto home (news5cleveland.com) — An Akron man on Chalker Avenue is worried about his safety after a massive tree branch from a neighboring property crashed onto his rental home's roof during a July storm, causing ongoing leaks. With repairs still pending, an insurance agent explains how "act of God" claims typically work and what Akron neighbors can do if they fear another dangerous tree nearby.
   

4. City of Akron Terminates Officer Davon Fields (thereporternewspaperonline.com) — Akron has fired Officer Davon Fields after internal findings of policy violations related to the fatal shooting of Jazmir Tucker and separate criminal allegations affecting his ability to serve. City leaders also announced new use-of-force review procedures, a Critical Incident Review Board, and expanded accountability measures aimed at strengthening public trust in the Akron Police Department.
   

5. City of Akron Announces Tentative Settlement Concerning the Death of Jazmir Tucker (thereporternewspaperonline.com) — Akron officials have reached a tentative $4.75 million settlement in the civil case over the death of Jazmir Tucker, pending probate court approval. City leaders say the agreement avoids prolonged litigation while emphasizing ongoing reforms to Akron Police Department use-of-force policies, training, and accountability, including implementation of outside recommendations and public tracking of progress.
