Prosecutors say more than 20 oxycodone and alprazolam prescriptions were involved, and both defendants now face multiple felony charges and a $500,000 bond while the animal hospital remains open.
   

2. Neighborhood Alliance announces upgrades to its Neighborhood Nutrition Kitchen during annual meeting (chroniclet.com) — A major Lorain County meal provider based in Avon has secured a $100,000 matching grant to expand its busy Neighborhood Nutrition Kitchen, which already produces more than 350,000 meals a year. The doctor and a second defendant face multiple felony charges tied to an alleged drug scheme now pending in Lorain County Common Pleas Court.

WKYT Investigates: Lexington Police working to solve 63-year-old missing persons case (wkyt.com) — A decades-old Lexington missing persons case briefly intersected with Avon when investigators compared DNA from a 1965 crash victim in Avon to a woman who vanished from Kentucky in 1963. The test wasn't a match, but Avon police cooperation helped get both women's DNA into national databases, raising the chances that future evidence could finally identify them.
