The story compares Avon's results with neighboring districts, explains how the state measures achievement, and notes that educators say the star ratings don't fully capture student success or local challenges.
   

2. 2026-2027 Global Scholars (owu.edu) — An Avon student, Jacquie Gundic, has been named one of only 20 first-year Global Scholars at Ohio Wesleyan University, earning access to special global studies seminars and a future $6,000 study-abroad grant. The four-year program supports high-achieving students passionate about international issues, culminating in a senior thesis and a Global Studies Institute certificate.

Lorain County officially designated as Urban County (morningjournal.com) — Avon is one of several Lorain County cities now included in a new federal "Urban County" designation that will bring more Community Development Block Grant money into the area. This status gives Avon access to increased funding for housing rehab, infrastructure, accessibility projects, and neighborhood improvements, while the county coordinates the program and seeks public input on which local priorities to fund.
   

4. H.S.
