Walmart Foundation Awards $40,000 Grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain County
State Giving Council grant helps provide healthy meals to local children

Local Representatives from Walmart today presented the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain County a $40,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Council to support the organization’s efforts to ensure students have access to healthy, nutritious food. The presentation took place at the Boys & Girls Clubs offices located at 4111 Pearl Avenue in Lorain.
The $40,000 grant will enable the Boys & Girls Clubs to provide after school meals and lunches throughout the year to more than 600 boys and girls. According to Mike Conibear, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Club of Lorain County, when they are able to address hunger among the young men and women, they no longer have to worry about food and can focus more on becoming the best individuals they can be.
“The resources provided by the Walmart grant have helped the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain County serve 23,298 meals since the beginning of our after school program,” Conibear said. “We are very grateful and look forward to a continued partnership.”
