Supporting youth mental health (mimivanderhaven.com) — Students in Avon schools are getting new mental health support, including a sensory space at Avon Middle School and programs for parents and staff, thanks to nonprofit The Hope for B.E.S.T. A recent community fundraiser brought in $25,000 to expand resources, from separation-anxiety workshops at Avon Early Learning Center to motivational talks for high schoolers, all aimed at reducing stigma and boosting emotional well-being.

She succeeds longtime leader Inez James and plans to focus on expanding membership, elevating women's leadership, and supporting Democratic candidates across Lorain County.
