• Resident reports elaborate fraud involving fake law enforcement: Brecksville Police Blotter (cleveland.com) — Brecksville police are investigating an elaborate phone scam in which a Springside Oval resident was convinced by a fake bank employee and an impersonated Broadview Heights officer to wire money, losing $1,500 even after the bank recovered most of the transfer. The case is a sharp reminder for Brecksville residents to distrust unsolicited calls about bank problems and never follow payment instructions from supposed law enforcement over the phone.

• Cleveland.com Ohio girls volleyball Top 20: Several highly ranked teams fall after losses (cleveland.com) — Brecksville gets a shout-out in this week's statewide girls volleyball rankings as Wadsworth prepares for a key Suburban League road match there, part of a tough stretch that also includes Solon and Jackson. The broader Top 20 shows how several highly ranked teams slipped after recent losses, while unbeaten programs like Cincinnati Seton, Bishop Fenwick, and Elyria Catholic continue to climb.

• 2026-2027 Global Scholars (owu.edu) — A Brecksville student, Charlie Kucharski, has been selected as one of 20 first-year Global Scholars at Ohio Wesleyan University, joining a selective four-year program focused on international issues. Scholars receive special coursework, a $6,000 study-abroad grant, and complete a senior capstone, graduating with a Global Studies Institute certificate that emphasizes global perspectives and real-world experience.
