Walnut Hills students grow AI literacy nonprofit from local club to international network (wcpo.com) — Walnut Hills High School students in Cincinnati have turned a school AI club into an international nonprofit, Students for AI Literacy, now reaching thousands of young people. They're also partnering with Cincinnati Public Schools on a proposed CPS Research Scholars program that could give about 150 local students research opportunities, mentorship, and science fair support if grant funding comes through.

2. His family helped people escape slavery. Now, he's sculpting a memorial at Ohio's oldest Black cemetery (wcpo.com) — In Cincinnati's historic United Colored American Cemetery in Madisonville, artist Daniel Buford is carving an old tree into a "wiping the tears" memorial for thousands of Black residents buried without markers. Visiting the cemetery almost daily, he's using found metal pieces to create faces symbolizing elders whose lives and contributions were never properly honored.

3. Cincinnati Unemployment Rate Drops to 3.6% (thecincinnatiexchange.com) — Cincinnati's August unemployment rate dipped to 3.6%, staying well below both last year's level and the national average, signaling a relatively strong local job market. About 42,400 people in the metro area were unemployed out of a 1.18 million-person labor force, though the figures don't reflect wages, job quality, or underemployment.

4. Area contractor sued for allegedly leaving projects unfinished (whio.com) — A Cincinnati home-improvement contractor and his company, Crown Pointe Remodeling, are being sued by the Ohio Attorney General in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court over claims of unfinished or never-started projects. Nine customers reported more than $100,000 in losses, and the lawsuit alleges shoddy work, failure to deliver promised services, and refusal to issue refunds. Residents can file related complaints with the state online or by phone.
