Cleveland Bank Robber Claimed She Had Bomb

The suspect told a teller she had been kidnapped and forced to wear a bomb. The suspect is allegedly dating another bank robber.

CLEVELAND, OH - Cleveland Police arrested a bank robber that claimed she had a bomb strapped to her body. Karin Deeb, 27, allegedly robbed the US Bank at 9740 Lorain Rd on Jan. 30.

Witnesses from the bank say that Deeb walked up to a teller and slid a note through a slot at the counter. The note said that Deeb had been kidnapped and needed $2,000 in $20s and $50s. The note also said that Deeb had a bomb. The back of the note said Adam Carson, jailmate, and to call "Kelly at the FBI."

Deeb repeatedly asked the teller if she understood the note. The teller said yes and then retrieved money for Deeb. The teller was then forced to count the money out to prove there wasn't a tracking device hidden among the bills.

After she had the cash, Deeb walked out of the building and headed east. The teller then pushed the alarm and alerted the bank manager to what had happened.

Cleveland FBI was able to identify Deeb from security footage. Police were able to arrest Deeb, though they would make no comment on her arrest. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police would not say whether or not a bomb was found on Deeb's person or in her residence.

Adam Carson, the listed jailmate, is Deeb's boyfriend, police say, and a fellow accused bank robber. He was indicted on Jan. 6, 2017 for the robbery of Chemical Bank in Amherst. He wore a baseball hat and a fake goatee and mustache into the bank on Nov. 21. He then handed the teller a note that said, "Give me all the money or I will hurt you." He made off with $5,590, but was later arrested.
