Kasich Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff on Jan. 28 for Officer Fahey
Governor John Kasich signed the order for all public buildings in Cuyahoga County and the statehouse to fly their flags at half-staff.

COLUMBUS, OH - Governor John Kasich has ordered all flags in Cuyahoga County to be flown at half-staff on Jan. 28 in honor of Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey, who was struck and killed while directing traffic on I-90 on Tuesday morning. Flags at the statehouse will also be flown at half-staff.
Kasich previously asked the people of Ohio to join him in prayer for the Fahey family. He also said on social media that "blessed are the peacemakers."
Fahey was hit by Israel Alvarez, 44, who fled the scene of the accident. Fahey was taken to MetroHealth where he was pronounced dead. Alvarez was later arrested in Lorain and is facing charges for aggravated vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.

The city of Cleveland is rallying around the Fahey family. For example, recently opened Masthead Brewery is donating $1 of every beer it sells on Thursday to the family. The company is also inviting a member of the Cleveland Police Department to be on-hand to collect direct donations for the family.
City officials, including Mayor Frank Jackson and Police Chief Calvin Williams, have extended their condolences to the family.
