Ohio COVID-19 Update: 1,497 New Cases, 103 Hospitalizations
Health officials confirmed nearly 1,500 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.
COLUMBUS, OH — On Monday, Ohioans 16 and older began receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, while health officials confirmed 1,497 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.
In the past 24 hours, 103 Ohioans have been hospitalized due to COVID-19. That's up versus the state's three-week average of 88 virus-related hospitalizations per day. Intensive care admission also trended up on Monday.
Ohio leaders have said they are racing against COVID-19 variants and trying to get as many people vaccinated as possible, as quickly as possible.

To facilitate vaccine distribution, Ohio has launched its first statewide vaccine registration tool, which can be accessed online.

Here are all of Monday's COVID-19 numbers:
- New cases: 1,497.
- New hospitalizations: 103.
- New ICU admissions: 22.
- Total deaths: 18,526.
At least 962,971 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered, the Ohio Department of Health said.
More than 28 percent of Ohioans have received at least the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state health department. More than 16 percent of Ohioans have received both COVID-19 vaccine shots.
As of Friday afternoon, 3.27 million Ohioans had received at least the first shot of the two-part COVID-19 vaccine; and 1.87 million Ohioans have completed the vaccination process.
