Volatile Storms Leave Trail Of Damage In Northeast Ohio
More than 45,000 FirstEnergy customers are without power Monday morning after powerful storms swept through the region.

CLEVELAND, OH — More than 45,000 Northeast Ohioans woke up Monday morning without power. Powerful storms that swept through the region Sunday night brought down trees and power lines alike, leaving an extensive trail of damage.
According to power company FirstEnergy's outages map, more than 45,000 Northeast Ohioans were without power Monday morning. Nearly all of the listed outages were caused by the weekend's inclement weather. The energy company is saying it expects to restore power to impacted customers by Monday night. However, FirstEnergy is also saying it may not restore power to some areas until Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Dozens of schools were closed Monday morning as a result of not having power. Many of the schools are in the southern tip of Cuyahoga County or the northern region of Summit County. A complete list of school closings can be found on Fox 8's website.
Residents in the area of Macedonia and Twinsburg suffered extensive damage. Trees came down during the night, some blocking driveways and others bringing down power lines.
