2 Dead After Police Standoff In South Euclid

The standoff may be connected to the killing of a Beachwood doctor on Thursday night.

SOUTH EUCLID, OH β€” Two people are dead after a police stand-off at a home in South Euclid. The property was owned by Dr. Richard Warn, who was found killed in his home in Beachwood this week.

Police approached the house on Elmwood on Friday, looking to execute a search warrant. As officers got near the home, someone began shooting at them, Fox 8 reported. The officers returned fire and then retreated. No police were hurt in the exchange.

A stand-off ensued, with police surrounding the home for close to 12 hours. Officers determined there were two suspects inside the home, but were unable to contact either person. Police eventually deployed a gas agent and then entered the house.

Both suspects were found inside the home, dead. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is looking into the incident.

Much of the front of the home was destroyed during the stand-off, WKYC said. It is not yet clear what evidence police were looking to access at Warn's Elmwood home.
