Join me for a sweet and simple morning of baking as we make classic strawberry shortcake completely from scratch. You’ll learn how to create tender, flaky biscuits, juicy macerated strawberries, and fresh vanilla whipped cream — then assemble your own beautiful shortcake to enjoy in class.

Family Kindness Festival Returns April 26, at New Location: Landerhaven
30 inspiring non-profits, 35 innovative students, and 30 area schools are joining together to celebrate the healing power of kindness at this FREE community festival.
Family Kindness Festival returns for another inspiring afternoon celebrating compassion, community, and connection. This year’s festival will take place on Sunday, April 26 from 1–4 p.m. at a new location: Landerhaven (6111 Landerhaven Dr. Mayfield Hts., OH).
Families from across Northeast Ohio are invited to gather for a joyful event designed to help children, parents and grandparents explore the healing power of kindness. The free festival will feature interactive activities, inspiring youth activists and entrepreneurs, hands-on projects, and opportunities for families to connect with nonprofit organizations that promote service, and community well-being.
Festival highlights will include:

 <li>Inspiring, entrepreneurial students focused on giving back to their communities</li>
 <li>Community nonprofits and organizations dedicated to those they serve </li>
 <li>Mobile blood drive</li>
 <li>Wigs for Kids Cut-a-Thon </li>

Reading of a New Work: “…DA BRONX IS BURN’N!” by Dayshawnda Ash
“…DA BRONX IS BURN’N!”&nbsp;is a visceral, movement-driven play set in the South Bronx during the late 1970s, when fires tore through neighborhoods and entire communities were left to fend for themselves. At its center is&nbsp;Jamie, a Black teenage girl coming of age inside a world shaped by abandonment, domestic violence, and generational silence. As the city burns around her—both literally and metaphorically—Jamie discovers dance as a language of survival, resistance, and self-definition.
Blending dialogue, music, and breakdance-inspired movement, the play confronts sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, and systemic neglect without spectacle or apology. Fire becomes both threat and metaphor: something that destroys, but also exposes what refuses to disappear. Through Jamie’s relationship with her mother, her chosen family, and the streets that raised her,&nbsp;“&nbsp;…DA BRONX IS BURN’N!”&nbsp;asks what it means to survive the aftermath—when the flames are gone, but the ash still clings to the body. This is a story about memory, movement, and the people who live on after the city lets them burn.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to pipe delicate petals, swirl icing into soft leaf patterns, and create a full set (6) of chocolate-based cookies in pastel pinks, greens, and whites — perfect for gifting or enjoying with tea or coffee.
