TSA to allow visitors without tickets past security at Columbus airport (thisweeknews.com) — If you're heading to John Glenn Columbus International Airport, you can now meet friends and family right at the gate, even without a plane ticket, through TSA's new Gateside program. Eligible visitors with TSA PreCheck or Known Traveler Numbers must apply online 1–3 days ahead, then use the PreCheck lane and standard ID and screening rules once approved.

Black Tech Week 2027 coming to Columbus (nbc4i.com) — Black Tech Week, a major conference for Black founders and investors, is moving from Cincinnati to Columbus in 2027, with about 10,000 attendees and an estimated $5.4 million in visitor spending. Announced by Mayor Andrew Ginther and local leaders, the three-day event will highlight how technology affects everyday life and jobs, with dates and ticket details still to come.

4. Columbus police announce new policies for Flock cameras (dispatch.com) — Columbus police are rolling out new rules for Flock license-plate cameras, including a seven-day data limit, bans on using them for immigration enforcement without a warrant, and restrictions around reproductive care and protests. After a local officer's heavy use of the system raised concerns, the city paused the cameras, plans audits of all searches, and is drafting legislation to govern future use.

5. How the Red Cross helps storm damage victims (nbc4i.com) — After tornadoes hit the Columbus area and flooding struck Perry County in mid-August, the Red Cross opened a disaster operations center in Columbus that remains active. Volunteers have already assessed damage at more than 1,000 homes, including hundreds destroyed or heavily damaged, and continue providing casework, supplies, and emotional support to affected central Ohio families.
