Cop Refused Service At Dunkin Donuts: Reports

The W. 117th Street Dunkin, near both Lakewood and Cleveland, is the site of some local controversy this week.

CLEVELAND, OH - An employee at a Dunkin Donuts near the Cleveland-Lakewood border has been fired after they reportedly refused to serve an officer involved in the fatal shooting of Tamir Rice. There is no indication that the employee refused the officer service because of his connection to Rice.

When Officer Frank Garmback, in uniform, approached the counter at the W. 117th Street Dunkin Donuts, he was refused service. Garmback drove the police cruiser that his partner, Timothy Loehmann was riding in. Loehmann shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice.

The firing of the employee was first reported by Fox 8. They noted that when the owner of the Dunkin Donuts found out by their employee's actions, they terminated the worker immediately.

"So I came in right away, and we got rid of him.” The owner then told Fox 8, that when confronted, the worker tried to pass it off as a joke. The owner said, “That's not a joke. That's not a good joke. We can't tolerate jokes like that."

The owner then reached out to the First District Police Station and offered a gesture of goodwill. One can only assume free donuts will be involved.

“It’s pathetic this attitude is out there," said Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association President Jeff Follmer, in Cleveland Scene. "We’re grateful the manager handled it the way he did.”
