Lakewood schools again discuss building repurposing with vote looming; opponents call it 'a plan in search of a problem' (cleveland.com subscription) — Lakewood City Schools is reexamining its plan to repurpose Lincoln Elementary into an Early Learning Center after a settlement with Friends of Lakewood Schools, with updated enrollment and cost data now under review. Residents and the advocacy group question the need, savings, and transparency, ahead of a key Sept. 8 board vote that could reshape preschool services and elementary boundaries.
   

2. Lakewood officials visit Lakewood Common construction site (photos) (cleveland.com) — Lakewood's $115 million Lakewood Common project is rapidly reshaping the former Lakewood Hospital site into a major mixed-use hub with housing, retail, a large public plaza, and a new parking garage. City officials say the phased build-out through 2028 will add community amenities, improve walkability, and create new economic activity in the heart of downtown Lakewood.
   

3. Lakewood substitute teacher arrested, accused of trying to solicit sex from teen (cleveland.com) — A substitute teacher who worked in Lakewood City Schools, most recently at Harding Middle School, has been arrested on felony charges after an undercover sting by law enforcement. District officials say he is barred from school property and student contact, emphasize required background checks for substitutes, and note they are unaware of any inappropriate behavior within Lakewood schools.
   

4. Sicksense announce 2026 North American tour (nextmosh.com) — Lakewood metal fans can catch Sicksense live at The Foundry on November 22, part of the band's newly announced North American tour. The run supports their upcoming EP "Funerals," due September 25, and includes a mix of headlining sets and support dates with acts like Mushroomhead, Fear Factory, and Eyes Set To Kill.
   

5. Laci Kaye Booth, Lukas Nelson Release THE ILLUSION OF LOVE (broadwayworld.com) — Lakewood music lovers will get a close-up look at rising country storyteller Laci Kaye Booth when she plays Mahall's 20 Lanes on September 30. She's touring behind her new album "Love Ain't For The Faint Of Heart" and a fresh duet with Lukas Nelson, with additional dates supporting Brad Paisley and Ella Langley around the country.
