LAKEWOOD, OH — As the coronavirus continues it statewide spread, state officials extended Ohio's stay-at-home order, mandating Ohioans stay within their home unless it's necessary to venture out. However, Ohioans are still allowed to visit parks — as long as they distance themselves from other visitors.

The rule extends to state and municipal parks, so Lakewood's green areas remain open to the public. However, Mayor Meghan George is urging residents to follow social distancing guidelines.

“During this difficult time, outdoor areas and parks are an important resource for the community and an outlet for families. However, in order for our parks to remain open, park goers must follow the Governor’s Order on social distancing. The last thing we would want is to close the parks but if these guidelines are not followed we will have to make the difficult decision to have them closed," George said in a statement.
