Lakewood Reminds Residents To Follow Safety Tips Amid Coronavirus
Wear a cloth face mask, stay 6 feet away from other people and wash your hands frequently.
LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood city officials issued a reminder to residents this week: continue to follow health and safety tips. Simple actions, like washing your hands regularly, blunt the spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
Both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Ohio leaders, like Gov. Mike DeWine, have begun urging Ohioans to wear cloth face masks in public. The masks won't prevent wearers from getting sick, but could stop someone from unintentionally spreading the virus.
Here's what Lakewood officials said residents should remember to do:

- Wear cloth face masks in public settings, like grocery stores.
- Don't put masks on children 2 and younger. Also avoid placing masks on anyone who has trouble breathing, anyone who is unconscious or unable to remove their mask without help.
- Don't use medical supply masks. If you have obtained a medical masks, like an N95, donate them to a local hospital.
- Use household items to make a cloth mask. Make sure there are multiple layers to your mask.
- Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth when removing the face covering.
- Wash your hands immediately after taking off your mask.
- Keep at least 6 feet between yourself and another person, even if you're wearing a mask.
- Support local businesses selling fabric masks at a reasonable price. Watch out for scammers.
- Wash your mask after each use. Don't wear a mask if it is wet from the laundry, or is covered in spit or mucus.
